Journaling improves the writing skills of the kids. It is the first thought which comes to most parents when they hear about journaling. Yes, it is one of the benefits of journaling. In the long run, it benefits the overall mental health of the kids, which is the true beauty of journaling.
There is no restriction to what can be done or not in a Journal. Daily activities, thoughts, feelings, interests, gratitude, emotions, physical fitness regime, dreams, invention ideas, plans, goals, areas of study, or schoolwork, kids can record anything in the journal. In short, kids can journal in any form and can be structured or unstructured.
Kids can write a few words or a couple of pages long, draw, doodle, and paint to express themselves as part of their journaling. They can add photos, drawings, or memories like chocolate covers or bands as part of journaling. There is no wrong way to journal.
A self-reflection journal will be an excellent outlet for tweens and teens. When kids write or draw in their journals, it provides more objective reflection and helps them release negative thoughts from their minds. They may even find a new solution that they had not thought of before in a difficult situation.
